Terms of Service
Effective June 1, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Gastonia mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service") provided by Gastonia ("we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. The Service
Gastonia is a personal expense-tracking application that lets you log expenses by voice or text, set budgets, view summaries, and manage categories. The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial use.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements.
3. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Provide accurate information when registering, and keep it up to date.
- Notify us promptly at support@gastonia.app if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
4. Subscriptions, trial, and billing
- New accounts receive a 7-day free trial with no credit card or payment method required upfront.
- After the trial, continued use of premium features requires an active paid subscription. We currently offer monthly and annual plans purchased through Google Play Billing.
- All payments, refunds, and subscription management are handled by Google Play. Cancellation, refund eligibility, and renewal behavior follow Google Play's policies and your Google account settings.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the Play Store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; no partial refunds are issued for the unused portion of a paid period unless required by law.
- Prices and plans may change. We will give at least 30 days' notice in-app before any price increase affecting your active subscription.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts, our servers, or any part of the Service.
- Submit content that infringes someone else's rights, is defamatory, harassing, or otherwise objectionable.
- Use automated scripts to scrape, reverse-engineer, or overload the Service.
- Resell, redistribute, or commercialise the Service or any of its components without our written permission.
6. Your data
You retain ownership of the expenses, transcripts, categories, and other content you submit to the Service ("Your Data"). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, and display Your Data for the sole purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not sell Your Data or use it for advertising. Our handling of Your Data is described in our Privacy Policy.
7. AI-assisted categorization
The Service uses third-party AI providers to transcribe voice recordings and to extract structured fields from text. AI output may be inaccurate. You are responsible for reviewing parsed expenses before relying on them. Gastonia does not provide financial, tax, or accounting advice; the Service is not a substitute for professional advice.
8. Intellectual property
The Service — including its name, logo, design, code, and content (excluding Your Data) — is owned by Gastonia and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
9. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from the app or by emailing support@gastonia.app. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive termination (payment obligations, intellectual-property terms, disclaimers, limitations of liability) will continue to apply.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific requirements.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gastonia and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 50.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Bolivia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The courts of Bolivia will have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising out of or related to these Terms, except where local consumer-protection law grants you the right to bring a claim in your own country.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the "Effective" date above and, if appropriate, notify users in-app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
